IPDA 2013 Categories & Criteria
 
Cosmetics (Mass & Prestige): includes color make-up for the eyes, lips, face and nails.
Fragrance (Mass & Prestige): includes perfumes and colognes for women, men and unisex.
Skin Care (Mass & Prestige): includes individual product treatments for the face, eyes, lips, neck and décolletage including moisturizer, BB creams, serums, masks, toners, scrubs, cleansers, gels, and creams.
Skin Care Product Line: Full product lines for the treatment of the face and body.
Personal Care (Mass & Prestige): includes sun care, body products, and dental. Full product lines are accepted in this category.

Hair Care includes shampoos, conditioners, hair coloring and ombre kits, and hair styling products that are applied. Can be for professional or retail distribution and full product lines are accepted in this category

Innovations in Sustainable Packaging: (products accepted from all categories) and features sustainable and/or renewable materials and technology.

Sampling/Travel Size Packaging: includes any cosmetics, skin care, fragrance or personal care product that is packaged in 4 oz or less.
Tools and At-Home Devices: includes packaging for make-up applicators and brushes, grooming tools, styling devices, heat-based products, and any light-based and laser technology.
 
 
CRITERIA FOR SUBMISSIONS:
Products that are eligible have or will be introduced for retail either domestically or internationally from June 1, 2012- June 30, 2013. Please note: If selected as an IPDA finalist, complete marketed product samples are required.
 
Entries in the Mass Category are considered by their price point and channels of distribution that include, but not limited to: Drug stores, mass merchandisers, warehouse centers, pharmacy chains, etc.
 
Entries in the Prestige Category are considered by their price point and channels of distribution that include, but not limited to: Department Stores, Spas, Salons, Specialty Stores, In-Store Boutiques, Internet, and Television, etc.
 
All entries are submitted to the IPDA Voting Committee, composed of designers, suppliers and marketing companies and trade media. The Voting Committee selects the finalists and winners, up to four in each category, and base their judging on the following criteria:
 
·         Originality 

·         Design Concept
·         Creative Use of New Materials, Components and Decorating Processes                
·          Technical Competency
·         Effective Brand Messaging
 
Please Note: Suppliers, designers and agencies submitting products for the HBA IPDA must have permission and approval from the brand manufacturer to submit products and provide samples if selected as a finalist.
