Professor Michael Hill

 

Michael Hill obtained his BS and MS degrees in Chemical Engineering from Columbia University in New York City. He was with Unilever R&D in Edgewater, NJ, USA and Port Sunlight, U.K. for 22 years, leading various product and process R&D departments and contributing to numerous product launches. Michael left Unilever in early 2005 to establish the consulting firm of M. Hill & Associates, specializing in concurrent product and process design for the Soaps, Detergents & Personal Care Industry. He has also been an Adjunct Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at Columbia University since 2005, teaching both Chemical Product Design and Process Design to chemical engineering undergraduates.

Michael has authored several papers and book chapters on strategic approaches to chemical product and process design, including a paper in AIChE Journal that became one of the journal’s top ten downloaded papers. He was elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers in 2008.
