Dr. Robb Akridge, Ph.D.
Robb holds degrees in marine science, botany and a PhD in Immunology from Texas A&M University, and has over 25 years in medical and global health research. After graduating, he studied antiviral research at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute Robb Akridge, PhD is co-founder and VP of Clinical Research at then set up a network of laboratories for AIDS vaccine development throughout the world. Robb’s journey into sonic technology began as a lead scientist for Sonicare® toothbrush. Always thinking of what is possible, Robb holds several patents in science, engineering, and design; and by teaming up with former Sonicare executive management, they created a whole new product category – sonic skin care with the introduction of the Clarisonic skin care brush in 2004. As the result of the success of Clarisonic, INC magazine (only 5 years later) listing the company as one of the top 500 fastest growing, privately held companies in USA. Being the ever gregarious teacher, “Dr. Robb” has captivated a nation-wide audience on QVC to win QVC’s coveted Q-star award for best product concept in 2008 and customer-elected best beauty device in 2009 and 2010. At HBA 2011, he spoke in the session T-03: Leadership Panel: Generating the Future in Skin Anti-Aging Technology and the session T-14: Mild Skin Cleansing: Reaching Towards the Holy Grail.
