Sander van Loon
Sander van Loon is the Director of VLCI, Netherlands (www.vlci.biz). He founded the company in 2008 after being with Sigma Coatings / PPG for seven years. At PPG, he completed successfully an innovation process resulting in two patents. VLCI provides independent R&D services to the formulation industry. The rapidly growing company specializes in coatings, personal care, paints, inks and polymers. It employs a unique business model by cooperating with an international network of industries and universities, serving small to multinational companies. Of unique interest is the High Throughput (HT) system at VLCI, which is used to accelerate R&D formulation projects. This HT system automatically prepares formulations (dispersing) and performs synthesis (e.g. polymerizations), in parallel and on laboratory scale. The high output and unique process enables R&D projects to be completed in far less time, using only small quantities of often rare and valuable raw materials. At HBA, he is speaking in the session T-04: High Speed Personal Care Formulating: Part 1.
